Academic year 2026

  • One new doctoral student joined the laboratory. The student is an international student.

  • Two new first-year master's students (M1) enrolled and joined the laboratory. Both are international students from China.

  • Doctoral student Kotarou Saku presented at ムギ類研究会 (a wheat and barley research meeting).

  • First-year master's student (M1) Bin Liu received 学生奨励賞 at the Symposium on Image Recognition and Understanding (MIRU2026).

  • Doctoral student Kotarou Saku and first-year master's student (M1) Bin Liu presented at the domestic symposium MIRU.

  • Research by alumnus Shota Hioki was presented at the international conference HCII2026.

  • A public doctoral dissertation defense was held for Wataru Ganaha, who pursued his doctorate while working. Despite his busy professional responsibilities, he achieved outstanding research results and completed his dissertation. Our warmest congratulations.

  • First-year master's student (M1) Souma Fukazawa presented at the domestic symposium SSII.

  • The laboratory move is now complete. Our new rooms are on the first floor of Engineering Building H. We thank all the students who helped with our moves for three consecutive years.

Academic year 2025 — second semester

  • Five new fourth-year undergraduate students (B4) joined the laboratory.

  • Doctoral student Yuji Makimura presented at the international conference VISAPP2026.

  • Second-year master's student (M2) Daichi Hayashi presented at the domestic conference DIA2026.

  • Second-year master's students (M2) Yosuke Kawai, Kotarou Saku, Daichi Hayashi, Shota Hioki, and Hiroto Miyabe presented at their public master's thesis defenses. Their excellent research results reflected their dedicated efforts. Six fourth-year undergraduate students (B4) also successfully completed their graduation research presentations.

  • We opened the laboratory to visitors as a departmental event held alongside the Fumon Festival. Thank you to the many people who visited us.

  • First-year master's student (M1) Tsubasa Kondo received the Outstanding Prize Excellent Student Paper Awards at the international conference GCCE. Congratulations.

  • Research by alumnus Takumi Ozaki was published in IEEE Access.

  • Second-year master's student (M2) Kotarou Saku and first-year master's student (M1) Yusuke Nakai presented at the domestic symposium MIRU.

  • Assistant Professor Michiko Inoue presented at the international conference AHFE.

  • Doctoral student Wataru Ganaha and second-year master's student (M2) Shota Hioki presented at the international conference HCII2025.

  • Doctoral student Yuta Yamaguchi and first-year master's student (M1) Tsubasa Kondo presented at the domestic symposium SSII.

  • Our collaborator, Assistant Professor Shunsuke Yoneda, received PRMU博士論文賞 from the IEICE Technical Committee on Pattern Recognition and Media Understanding.

Academic year 2024 — second semester

  • Professor Nishiyama gave a lecture at a training seminar organized by the Chugoku Branch of the Information Processing Society of Japan.

  • Second-year master's student (M2) Takumi Ozaki presented at the domestic research meeting PRMU.

  • 7 incoming fourth-year undergraduate students (B4) joined the laboratory.

  • Koki Kodani (M2) and Ryusei Nakamura (B4) presented at the domestic conference DIA2025.

  • Assistant Professor Michiko Inoue presented at the domestic conference Interaction 2025.

  • Takumi Ozaki (M2), Koki Kodani (M2), Teppei Kobiki (M2), and Cao Jinyu (M2) presented at their public master’s thesis defenses. Their outstanding research reflected their dedicated efforts. Thank you for all your work. The 6 fourth-year undergraduate students (B4) also successfully completed their graduation research presentations.

  • Our collaborator Takuya Kamitani presented at the international conference IW-FCV2025.

  • 森内優介 of Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation gave a talk at a lecture event organized by a center affiliated with our Faculty of Engineering. Members of the local community, university faculty and staff, and students attended.

  • Research by our collaborator Assistant Professor Shunsuke Yoneda was published in IEEE Access.

  • Takumi Hanakawa (M2) received 研究奨励賞 at 動的画像処理実利用化ワークショップ (DIA2024).

  • Tokachi Shirahata (M2), Takumi Hanakawa (M2), and Assistant Professor Shunsuke Yoneda presented at the domestic conference DIA.
